A Medical Aid Application
Mind Matters is an iPad application created to make daily life easier for people living with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and their carers by helping participate in a range of activities. After a quick setup, the patient can engage in various cognitive exercises. These cognitive exercises have been proven by research to slow the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, whilst also helping to combat the sense of confusion or loneliness which is apparent in sufferers of this disease. Other functions of the app include a photo book to share memories, a multi-level quiz to test knowledge against wide and diverse topics, a piano to create musical pieces as part of a creative cognitive exercise and a painting canvas with three options for the patient to express their creativity. The carers’ area of the application includes a journal allowing any medical incidents to be conveyed to and shared with a medical professional at a later date.
